a dilemma in the year of the dragon...

Ray an Gerone Amor said "Giving so much effort on some things gives a reason for us to enjoy our lives as we go along...no one can ever replace experience and camaraderie among the people whose been with you all along the journey in giving the best in being a pride and promoter of culture, tourism and entertainment as well......
despite the fact that we all know that having not enough budget, a certain group or organization such as the SOSOGON FESTIVAL DANCERS OF SORSOGON CITY cannot move upon in GIVING AND HELPING the CITY GOVERNMENT of SORSOGON in promoting it's tourism and boosting it's economy because it is a primary tool to sustain and lift the city's image and other aspects that will bring not just income but can be of an international promotion being one of the cities in the country with such things to enjoy and explore with.......
we all know its hard to make such decision but being one of the dancers, its not good on our part because of making us hoping that we will be competing in the GAYON BIKOL FESTIVAL SHOWDOWN and then it will be announced that we will not be joining anymore....maybe they don't know the emotional impact of this specially to those who give in to it as their passion and part of their lives....maybe the one that needs to explain all of the reasons behind this are those who decided and concluded not to join in the mentioned competition because no one can answer the query of these people better than them in order for them to elaborate and give detailed facts and statistics of what really is the present situation of the allocated budget for such. though i know that it is not that easy to have transactions with the government but to the point of easily giving up one of the PRIME MOVERS and AMBASSADORS of culture and tourism not just in the city but as well as in the province which makes it a key to make bicol region known.
i hope this will help those people think of sacrifices and efforts done in making all of these a reality.....and we are still believing that the benevolent support to the youth which will the the next generation of proud sorsoganons will be one of the priority on the local government....its makes other contingent think that we are not proud of what we have and what we are if these things will happen again and again....
thank you and god bless us all....."

2011 Gayon Bicol Festival of Festivals Showdown Best in Costume and Best in Moving Choreography

The female costume depicts a stylized version of the Sosogon costume during the early Spanish era. The costume is a mix of native (Malay flavor) and Spanish designs and elements but incorporated with different accents that shows the products and natural elements abundant in the place.
The sleeves show a bunch of pili fruits in different stages of maturity from the young (colored green) to the semi – mature (colored violet/magenta) and the mature or ripe (colored black). The short skirt shows the S design which depicts the river, an element pivotal to the history of the name Sorsogon.
The same costume covered with a long skirt and topped with the stylized “panuelo” and accented with a headdress depicts the costume used for festive occasions such as harvesting festivals and others. The headdress shows the pili design painted on it. The handheld props such as baskets are made of rattan and abaca, accented with some printed cloth and jars of pili candies decorated with abaca twines.
The accessories used such as necklace, belt and headband are accented with pieces of pili nut shells from the pili fruit which is one of our prime agricultural products and some spangles for glittery effect.
