The female costume depicts a stylized version of the Sosogon costume during the early Spanish era. The costume is a mix of native (Malay flavor) and Spanish designs and elements but incorporated with different accents that shows the products and natural elements abundant in the place.
The sleeves show a bunch of pili fruits in different stages of maturity from the young (colored green) to the semi – mature (colored violet/magenta) and the mature or ripe (colored black). The short skirt shows the S design which depicts the river, an element pivotal to the history of the name Sorsogon.
The same costume covered with a long skirt and topped with the stylized “panuelo” and accented with a headdress depicts the costume used for festive occasions such as harvesting festivals and others. The headdress shows the pili design painted on it. The handheld props such as baskets are made of rattan and abaca, accented with some printed cloth and jars of pili candies decorated with abaca twines.
The accessories used such as necklace, belt and headband are accented with pieces of pili nut shells from the pili fruit which is one of our prime agricultural products and some spangles for glittery effect.

Aliwan Fiesta 2011
Coming up in April is a big treat for those who love a great street dancing showdown. From the 14th to the 16th of April, 2011 the Aliwan Festival will be happening in Manila Philippines and drawing tens of thousands of spectator, photographers and participants for all the festivities and happenings.
The Aliwan Festival 2011 will kick off with a massive parade which will wind down Roxas Boulevard and go past the very impressive Quirino Grandstand on the way to the place where all the magic is going to be exposed in front of the Aliw Theater and the Complex CCP where the judges and spectators will see just how grand the Grand Parade really is!
Filipinos love festivals and in the modern world where tourism is such an important part of the economies of nations, there is no better way to draw tourists, visitors, and get great press than to have amazing events that highlight the beauty, products, craftsmanship, and heritage of the many cultures that identify themselves as Filipinos.

2010 Kasanggayahan Festival Historico - Cultural Parade
the Kasanggayahan Festival is celebrated in Sorsogon in commemoration of its foundation as a Province. It is a province-wide festival, with the center of activities in Sorsogon City. Kasanggayahan is an old Bikol word, the meaning of which can be gleaned from this short verse:
"When the fields are green
and the grains are golden;
when the machines work well
and all business prosper;
when the birds in the sky chirp freely
and men on earth are peacefully happy;
in Bikol, it is KASANGGAYAHAN,
meaning, a life of prosperity.”
The Kasanggayahan Festival, which is listed by the Department of Tourism as one of the annual Philippine Festivals, is celebrated with a series of cultural, historical, religious, agro-industrial and economic activities, showcasing Sorsogon’s abundant agricultural products, particularly food and decorative items from the versatile Pili tree, which is indigenous to the province.
